Portrait Photography FAQs

How long does the photo session last?

Most portrait sessions last up to 2 hours. For babies and small children, the shoot may last longer due to frequent breaks for rest, food etc. However this will all be agreed in advance of the shoot.

What happens if it's raining / my child is sick etc?

If it's raining, there may be an opportunity to shoot inside or under cover. If there is no alternative, or if a child is sick, then the shoot will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

What should I / my child wear for the portrait session?

It's not up to me to dictate what anyone can or can't wear to a photo session, but here are a few suggestions for what usually works best. Plain coloured, classic clothes work best. If children or families are being photographed together, they don't have to dress identically, but the images will look better if the clothes are co-ordinated. Busy patterns and wording on clothes are best avoided, as is anything else that will date easily. Remember that for black and white images, all colours will appear grey, so it's less of an issue.

But my child refuses to wear what I want him/her to...

Once children are old enough to have an opinion on what they want to wear, it becomes difficult to persuade them otherwise. In this case, let them have both outfits and switch part way through the shoot. That way, you'll both get images you are happy with.

Do you offer make-over sessions?

Yes, we can organise a make-up artist for you, subject to availibility. Please contact us with your requirements.

Do you provide images on CD/DVD?

Yes, see our pricing guide for further details.

Do you charge travel expenses?

I do not charge expenses for any shoot location within an hourís drive of Bath. Beyond that would be considered on a case by case basis.
